WI Artist of the Year 2018
“The layering of color stands for the metaphor of the rich and continuous feedback between the artist and subject. Through this layering and enhancement I seek to create paintings that are sensual and intimate from natural subjects that are commonplace and ordinary.”
Rosalie Beck has an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she teaches drawing.
She has exhibited her paintings, pastels and watercolors in numerous exhibitions such as Les Pastellistes” 18th International Exhibition in Montreal where she was awarded “Best Portrait”.
One-person exhibitions include the Lakeshore Gallery in Milwaukee, Anderson Art Center in Kenosha Wisconsin, SEAMEO-SPAFA in Bangkok, Thailand, Edith Barrett Gallery at Utica College of Syracuse University, New York, Manitowoc Art Gallery at UW-Manitowoc, and Riverside Gallery in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
